The Job
NLNG Shipping and Marine Service Limited (NLNGSML) is looking for a qualified Third Officer to join our deck team onboard our LNG carriers. As a Third Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the ship under the guidance of the Master and Second Officer.

Key Responsibilities:
- Understudy and Assist: Learn from and support the Second Officer.
- Watchkeeping: Keep a navigational watch.
- Cargo Operations: Assist with cargo operations, stability, ballast operations, moorings, and ship security during your watch.
- Safety Supervision: Ensure the safety of all personnel working under your supervision.
- Maintenance: Maintain and upkeep all deck portable firefighting equipment and lifesaving appliances.
- Training Records: Responsible for the completion of records of onboard training.
- GMDSS Duties: Act as nominated officer for the GMDSS station, managing associated tests and records.
- Library Management: Maintain the Recreational and Technical library.
- Compliance: Execute any lawful command and delegated duty from the Master.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should:
- Nationality: Be a Nigerian seafarer.
- Experience: Have a minimum of three months' experience on a Gas Tanker, preferably LNG tanker.
- Certification: Hold a minimum of an OOW Deck Certificate of Competency from any of the following Maritime agencies/authorities: Algeria, Georgia, Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Azerbaijan, Greece, Oman, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Belgium, Hungary, Peru, Brazil, Iceland, Philippines, Bulgaria, India, Poland, Canada, Indonesia, Portugal, Cape Verde, Iran, Romania, Chile, Ireland, Italy, Senegal, Croatia, Jamaica, Serbia, Cuba, Japan, Singapore, Cyprus, Jordan, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Korea (Republic of), South Africa, Denmark, Latvia, Spain, Ecuador, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Sweden, Estonia, Malaysia, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Malta, Turkey, Faroe Islands, Mexico, Ukraine, Fiji, Montenegro, Uruguay, Finland, Morocco, USA, France, Myanmar, Vietnam.
- Age: Be 18 years of age or above.
